Check-In
Competitors must check-in at least 1 hour prior to their tee-time at the SGU Championship Registration Desk. This will be situated in the entrance to The Duke’s.

Clubhouse
Competitors and their guests may use the clubhouse facilities. The dress code is smart casual. The wearing of jeans, denim trousers, shorts, sleeveless of collarless shirts and shell suits are not permitted. Shoes worn on the golf course may not be worn in the clubhouse.

Changing facilities are available in the Gents Locker Rooms. Coin operated lockers, showers and towels are available but towels must remain in the Changing Rooms.

Car Park
Competitors may use the main car park. Competitors must not park in front of the clubhouse entrance as this is strictly a drop-off/collection area. The Scottish Golf Union and The Duke’s cannot accept responsibility for any damage to cars.

Catering
Any food or beverage, out with that provided by Belhaven, will be at competitors own expense.

Format
The event is an 18-hole medal team competition with a maximum handicap of 28 and 3/4 allowance given. The teams will consist of two amateurs from each club who qualified via the Belhaven Best Scottish Club Handicap Championship Regional Finals. A maximum of 40 teams will participate. The best nett score recorded by any one of the two players in the team at each hole will be added to form an aggregate.

In the event of a tie for leading positions the following countback procedure will be applied:

The lowest nett score for the last 9 holes (10 – 18) and if still a tie
The lowest nett score for the last 6 holes (13 – 18) and if still a tie
The lowest nett score for the last 3 holes (16 – 18) and if still a tie
The lowest nett score for the last 1 hole (hole 18) and if still a tie
Sudden death match play on the best nett score on the card, hole by hole from the 1st hole.

Tees
Play will be from the Belhaven tee markers, which represent the green tees.

Rules
The competition shall be played under the Rules of Golf as laid down by R&A Rules Limited and supplemented by the Local Rules of The Duke’s, as issued by the SGU Events Committee. The SGU reserve the right to override any club local rule and the use of electronic measuring devices is prohibited.

Trolleys, Buggies & Strokesavers
The Professionals Shop has a supply of trolleys for hire on a first come first serve basis. Yardage books will be available for purchase from the Professionals Shop.

Buggies are available for hire on a first come first served basis at a cost of £30 per team of two – please book in advance by calling the Professional’s Shop on 01334 470214.

Scorecards
Scorecards must be returned to the SGU Championship Mobile Office immediately after play.

Prizegiving
The Championship trophy and prizes will be presented at the close of play, all prize winners are expected to be present.

Accommodation
The Duke’s Course in conjunction with the Old Course Hotel are delighted to offer competitors competing in the 2009 Belhaven Best Scottish Club Handicap Championship a preferential rate for anyone wishing to stay the night before the event in the Old Course Hotel.

Directions
On the A91 to St Andrews, you will come to Guardbridge 3 miles from St Andrews. Continuing ½ mile on the A9 from Guardbridge to St Andrews, take the first road on the right, signposted Strathkinness/Craigtoun. Go through Strathkinness and straight ahead with care at the junction towards Craigtoun Country Park. At the next junction turn left, signposted Craigtoun/Duke’s Course. The entrance to the Duke’s Course is ½ mile along the road on the right.
